Will the Cigarette Ban in Britain Take Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Internet?

A lot has been reported in the papers recently regarding the bingo industry being hurt as a consequence of the smoking ban in Britain. Conditions have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for huge aid to assist in keeping the industry from going bankrupt. However does the net adaptation of this quintessential game provide a reprieve, or might it never compare to its real life opposite?

Bingo is an familiar game usually played by the "blue haired" generation. However the game recently had witnessed a recent resurgence in appeal with younger members of society opting to visit the bingo parlours rather than the discos on a weekend. This is all about to be destroyed with the legislating of the smoking ban around UK.

No more will gamblers be allowed to smoke while marking numbers. From the summer of 2007 all public areas will not be allowed to permit cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo halls, which are possibly the most favorite areas where players like to smoke.

The results of the anti cigarette law can already be seen in Scotland where cigarettes are already not allowed in the bingo parlors. Profits have plummeted and the business is beyond a doubt fighting for its life. But where did the players go? Surely they have not deserted this familiar game?

The answer is online. Players are now realizing that they can gamble on bingo using their computer whilst enjoying a cocktail and fag and still enjoy huge jackpots. This is a recent development and has timed itself almost perfectly with the anti smoking law.

Of course wagering on on the net can never replace the social aspect of going over to the bingo hall, but for a demographic of players the governing edicts have left a number of bingo enthusiasts with little option.
