Might the Cigarette Ban in Britain Force Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Web?
Posted in Bingo on 11/23/2022 10:25 pm by EileenMuch has been reported in the press not long ago concerning the bingo industry struggling as a result of the cigarette ban in Britain. Conditions have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for huge aid to help keep the industry afloat. But can the internet adaptation of this classic game offer a salvation, or will it not compare to its bricks and mortar peer?
Bingo is an age old game normally enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. For all that the game recently had seen a recent increase in popularity with younger members of society deciding to go to the bingo halls rather than the discos on a weekend. This is all about to be reversed with the enacting of the anti cigarette law across United Kingdom.
Players will no longer be allowed to smoke whilst marking numbers. Starting in the summer of ‘07 all public locations will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most common areas where players like to smoke.
The effects of the cigarette ban can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already forbidden in the bingo parlours. Players have plummeted and the business is literally struggling for to stay alive. But where did the players go? Certainly they have not forgotten this established game?
The answer is on the web. People are now realizing that they can play bingo from their computer while enjoying a beverage and fag and still enjoy massive jackpots. This is a recent anomaly and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.
Of course betting on on the web is unlikely to replace the social portion of heading over to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of men and women the law has left a lot of bingo players with no option.
