Might the Anti Cigarette Law in the UK Take Bingo Players On to the Web?
Posted in Bingo on 08/24/2019 01:25 am by EileenAn abundance has been reported in the press just a while ago concerning the bingo industry struggling as a consequence of the anti smoking law in England. Conditions have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested massive tax cuts to help keep the businesses alive. But will the internet variation of this quintessential game present a lifeline, or will it never compare to its bricks and mortar opposite?
Bingo is an enduring game historically played by the "blue haired" generation. Although the game lately had witnessed a recent increase in appeal with younger people opting to visit the bingo parlours rather than the discos on a Friday night. All this is about to change with the introduction of the cigarette ban throughout United Kingdom.
Players will no longer be able to puff on cigarettes whilst dabbing numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public area will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most favorite locations where players enjoy smoking.
The effects of the anti cigarette law can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already banned in the bingo halls. Profits have dropped and the business is literally struggling for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Obviously they have not given up on this familiar game?
The answer is online. Players are now realizing that they can gamble on bingo from their computer at the same time enjoying a drink and fag and in the end, have a chance at massive jackpots. This is a recent development and has happened almost perfectly with the ban on cigarettes.
Of course wagering on on the net is unlikely to replace the social part of heading down to the bingo parlor, but for a group of players the governing edicts have left a number of bingo enthusiasts with little option.
