Will the Cigarette Ban in England Force Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Net?
Posted in Bingo on 08/25/2019 05:25 am by EileenMuch has been stated in the papers just a while ago concerning the bingo industry being hit as a consequence of the smoking ban in England. Conditions have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for huge tax breaks to assist in keeping the industry afloat. However will the web version of this quintessential game offer a lifeline, or might it in no way compare to its bricks and mortar peer?
Bingo has been an ancient game usually played by the "blue rinse" generation. However the game of late had undergone a recent increase in appeal with younger people deciding to hit the bingo parlors instead of the clubs on a Friday night. All this is about to be destroyed with the legislating of the smoking ban around Britain.
No more will players be allowed to smoke whilst dabbing numbers. From the summer of ‘07 every public place will not be permitted to allow smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo halls, which are possibly the most popular areas where players enjoy smoking.
The effects of the anti smoking law can already be felt in Scotland where smoking is already not allowed in the bingo parlors. Numbers have plunged and the business is beyond a doubt fighting for its life. But where did the players go? Obviously they have not forgotten this familiar game?
The answer is on the web. People realise that they can gamble on bingo using their computer at the same time enjoying a cocktail and cigarette and still have a chance at huge cash rewards. This is a recent development and has happened just about perfectly with the ban on cigarettes.
Of course betting on on the web is unlikely to replace the communal part of heading down to the bingo hall, but for a group of people the governing edicts have left a good many bingo enthusiasts with no option.
