Will the Smoking Ban in England Force Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Web?
Posted in Bingo on 09/29/2023 01:25 pm by EileenA lot has been stated in the papers recently concerning the bingo industry being hit because of the smoking ban in England. Things have grown so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for big aid to assist in keeping the industry alive. But does the net version of this traditional game present a lifeline, or will it not compare to its land based opposite?
Bingo is an enduring game historically enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game recently had seen a recent increase in popularity with younger men and women deciding to hit the bingo parlors instead of the clubs on a Saturday night. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the legislating of the smoking ban all over Britain.
No longer will gamblers be permitted to puff on cigarettes at the same time dabbing numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 every public area will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favorite places where folks enjoy smoking.
The results of the smoking ban can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already not allowed in the bingo parlours. Numbers have plummeted and the business is literally struggling for its life. But where have the players gone? Certainly they have not abandoned this familiar game?
The answer is online. People realize that they can gamble on bingo in front of their computer whilst enjoying a beer and smoke and still have a chance at huge jackpots. This is a recent anomaly and has happened just about perfectly with the ban on cigarettes.
Of course wagering on on the net is unlikely to replace the communal aspect of heading over to the bingo parlour, but for a group of players the rules have left many bingo enthusiasts with little alternative.
