Could the Anti Smoking Law in England Take Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Web?

[ English ]

Much has been reported in the press just a while ago concerning the bingo industry singing the blues because of the smoking ban in England. Things have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for big aid to assist in keeping the industry from going bankrupt. However will the net version of this quintessential game provide a salvation, or will it not compare to its real life opposite?

Bingo is an classic game historically played by the "blue haired" generation. Although the game recently had undergone a recent increase in appeal with younger members of society opting to go to the bingo parlours in place of the bars on a weekend. All this is about to change with the introduction of the anti smoking law around UK.

No longer will gamblers be allowed to smoke at the same time dabbing numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public area will not be allowed to permit cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo halls, one of the most favorite locations where people enjoy smoking.

The effects of the anti smoking law can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already prohibited in the bingo parlors. Profits have plummeted and the industry is absolutely fighting for its life. But where did all the players go? Of course they have not abandoned this classic game?

The answer is on the net. Gamblers are now realizing that they can gamble on bingo using their computer while enjoying a beverage and cigarette and in the end, have a chance at big prizes. This is a recent phenomenon and has timed itself just about perfectly with the anti cigarette law.

Of course wagering on online can never replace the collective portion of going over to the bingo hall, but for a group of men and women the rules have left a lot of bingo players with no option.
