Can the Cigarette Ban in England Drive Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Internet?
Posted in Bingo on 07/13/2020 11:25 pm by EileenMuch has been written in the papers not long ago regarding the bingo industry struggling because of the anti cigarette law in the United Kingdom. Things have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for big aid to assist in keeping the industry alive. But does the net variation of this quintessential game offer a lifeline, or might it not compare to its land based equivalent?
Bingo is an established game normally enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. For all that the game lately had witnessed a recent comeback in popularity with younger members of society deciding to go to the bingo parlors instead of the discos on a Saturday night. This is all about to be reversed with the enforcement of the anti cigarette law across England and Wales.
Players will no longer be able to puff on cigarettes whilst dabbing numbers. From the summer of ‘07 every public area will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlours, which are possibly the most common areas where people enjoy smoking.
The results of the cigarette ban can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already not allowed in the bingo parlours. Players have dropped and the industry is beyond a doubt fighting for to stay alive. But where have all the players gone? Surely they haven’t given up on this ancient game?
The answer is on the net. People realize that they can bet on bingo in front of their computer whilst enjoying a beverage and fag and still have a chance at massive cash rewards. This is a recent anomaly and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.
Of course gambling on on the internet could never replace the communal portion of going over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of men and women the governing edicts have left many bingo enthusiasts with no choice.
